A Few More Snow Pictures

Here are a few more pictures from the Great Blizzard of 2016. Snow fell on Friday and Saturday, January 22 and 23.  It was coming down so fast that the city snowplows, concentrating on just the main roads, could barely keep up with it.  The streets in my neighborhood were impassable until Sunday, when a snowplow cleared a path.  I waited until then to clear the snow from in front of my garage so I could get my car out.

The snow was light and fluffy enough that I could move the bulk of it with a rake, using it like a broom.

Looking north on my street.  Only one lane wide.

Looking south.
The temperature was in the teens, too cold for Brea, really, unless she wore booties on her feet, so we kept walks very, very short.  It didn't seem to bother Siri, or maybe she was just too excited to notice the cold.

This morning (Monday) the temperature warmed up to just below freezing, warm enough for both dogs to be able to enjoy the snow.  We were out on the ball field for a long time.  I got some video with my phone but haven't been able to get it to download to my computer, so I can't show it here.

This afternoon, the temperature was up to fifty degrees, so I guess the snow won't be around for long.  At least, it won't be the nice fluffy snow that the dogs like to run and play in.

Dashing Through the Snow

The Charleston area got between 16 and 20 inches of snow over the past couple of days. In some places the drifts were a lot deeper, over the dogs' heads. The way they moved through the deep snow reminded me of dolphins leaping out of water. This was one time where Brea couldn't keep up with Siri - she isn't big enough to plow her way through the snow.

Snow Day

Today was the first real snow day of 2016, the first day with any significant amount of snow. Siri seems to especially enjoy the snow.
